FC Futures South Bronx: How Film Label Supported a Global Brand Activation on the Ground in New York

Film Label served as the local production partner in New York for the LALIGA x EA Sports FC Futures South Bronx project — a multi-phase event video production spanning construction, community events, and an official inauguration at P.S./M.S. 31 in the Bronx.

What Is FC Futures?

FC Futures is EA Sports’ grassroots initiative to expand access to football and connect communities around the world through the game. In partnership with LALIGA, the program builds and refurbishes community pitches globally — combining sport, art, and local culture to create lasting impact for young people.

The South Bronx chapter marked the 10th pitch delivered through the program worldwide. It wasn’t just a facility renovation. It was a full creative and community project — featuring original artwork by BG183, a founding member of Bronx graffiti collective Tats Cru, and a long-term football and education program delivered with South Bronx United.

The production was led by Monkey Minds, with Film Label brought on as the New York-based local production partner.

The Brief: A Multi-Phase Production in One of New York’s Most Storied Neighborhoods

The South Bronx isn’t a neutral backdrop. It’s the birthplace of hip-hop, graffiti, and street culture — a neighborhood with a powerful identity and a community that takes ownership of its spaces seriously. The creative concept for FC Futures leaned directly into that: football and graffiti as two languages for reclaiming public space.

The audiovisual story needed to follow the full arc — from an empty schoolyard to a completed pitch — capturing the build process, the artistic intervention, the community discovering the space, and the official opening.

That meant multiple shoot days, multiple crews, and production support that could adapt in real time.

Film Label’s Role: Local Production Partner

Monkey Minds had previously worked with Film Label on the LALIGA Next Gen Drafts campus in New York. When FC Futures came to the South Bronx, they reached out again.

Film Label’s responsibilities covered the full production from the ground up:

  • Local production coordination across all shoot phases
  • Crew sourcing and scheduling
  • Camera operator and DP support
  • Photography coverage
  • Drone operator sourcing and NYC airspace coordination
  • Sound support for interviews and event coverage
  • Lighting package support for outdoor interviews
  • Production assistant support
  • Footage organization and client delivery via Dropbox

This was not a single-day event shoot. It was an extended production with moving parts — and that required a partner who could keep things moving when those parts moved unexpectedly.

The Production Challenges

Producing in New York at this scale comes with variables that can’t always be planned around.

Drone airspace. The South Bronx location sits in controlled NYC airspace. Getting the elevated shots the client needed — revealing the pitch in the context of the city and skyline — required navigating LAANC authorization, property permissions, and NYPD permitting considerations. Film Label sourced licensed drone operators and worked through the feasibility and logistics to make those shots happen.

Weather and construction timing. Construction schedules shift. Weather in New York is unpredictable. Film Label coordinated around both — adjusting shoot dates, realigning crews, and keeping the production on track without disrupting the broader timeline.

Coordinating with an overseas team. Monkey Minds is based outside the U.S. Film Label served as the eyes and ears on the ground — communicating with local crew and vendors, managing day-to-day logistics, and ensuring the production ran smoothly without requiring the client to manage every detail from a distance.

The Shoot Phases

Pre-Construction and Neighborhood Context Before the build began, Film Label captured the empty schoolyard and surrounding South Bronx neighborhood — establishing the before that would make the transformation meaningful on screen.

Construction Coverage As the pitch took shape, the crew documented the process: materials arriving, turf being installed, perimeter panels going up, and BG183’s artwork coming to life on the walls.

Community Day Community Day captured the neighborhood discovering the space for the first time — candid reactions, kids and families, local energy, and the pitch beginning to feel like it belonged to the people around it.

Artist Coverage Film Label also supported coverage of BG183’s creative process, documenting the work of one of the Bronx’s most significant artists as he brought the pitch’s visual identity to life.

Inauguration Event The final shoot day was the official opening — attended by LALIGA Ambassador Patrick Kluivert, school students, local families, EA Sports and LALIGA representatives, and community partners. Full event coverage included institutional moments, speeches, kids playing on the finished pitch, and drone footage of the completed space from above.

The Result

The finished content — produced by Monkey Minds from the material Film Label captured — includes a main documentary-style project video, a one-minute summary, an artist interview piece, and a photo gallery. The project was officially announced by LALIGA and EA Sports in May 2026.
