On September 22, 2026, Semafor hosted The Next 3 Billion in New York City during the United Nations General Assembly.
With many speakers and attendees already in the city for the UN gathering, the event brought together influential voices for a timely series of conversations about the people, markets and ideas shaping the future.
Film Label partnered with Semafor Brand Studio, Semafor’s branded-content and marketing team, to capture the complete event while producing polished, publish-ready video content throughout the day.
The assignment involved more than documenting what happened onstage. Semafor needed a production workflow that could support scheduled executive interviews, accommodate unexpected opportunities and turn around social content while the event was still happening.

A Production Designed for Speed
Same-day delivery begins well before the cameras start rolling.
During pre-production, Film Label designed and built the complete motion-graphics package for the videos. Preparing the branded visual elements in advance meant the team would not need to begin each edit from scratch once filming started.
As interviews were completed, footage could move quickly through post-production using graphics that had already been designed, reviewed and approved.
This preparation allowed Film Label to deliver four short social edits during the event, with an approximately one-hour turnaround from filming to delivery.
For Semafor Brand Studio, that meant the conversations could reach audiences while the event—and the subjects being discussed—were still timely.

Four Cameras Across Two Production Environments
Film Label operated two complementary productions within the event.
Two cameras captured the main program, preserving the speakers, conversations and atmosphere of The Next 3 Billion. At the same time, two additional cameras were dedicated to an executive interview studio built on-site.
The studio gave Semafor a consistent, professional environment for scheduled interviews while remaining ready for guest walk-ins and new opportunities as the day developed.
The Film Label crew included:
- Three camera operators
- One sound technician
- One production assistant
- One hair and makeup artist
- One producer/director
Working across the event and studio required careful coordination. The team needed to maintain consistent picture and sound quality while moving quickly enough to respond to a live schedule.

Ready for the Planned—and the Unplanned
Live events rarely unfold exactly as anticipated. A production system needs enough structure to stay organized and enough flexibility to respond when something changes.
During The Next 3 Billion, Film Label was asked to adapt the two-camera executive studio for a visiting journalist who needed to conduct a one-on-one interview with one of the event’s guest speakers.
The team quickly transformed the setup to support the new interview format.
That moment reflected an important part of Film Label’s approach to event production: preparation is not only about following a plan. It is also about creating a reliable foundation that allows the crew to respond confidently when a new opportunity appears.
By keeping the studio fully lit, recorded and production-ready throughout the day, Semafor could accommodate both its scheduled programming and valuable unscheduled conversations.

Capturing the Event While Extending Its Reach
The value of an event does not need to end when the room empties.
A well-planned production can transform one day of programming into a broader library of content: executive interviews, social clips, speaker videos, campaign assets and material for future communications.
At The Next 3 Billion, Film Label combined complete event coverage with a dedicated interview environment and a same-day editing workflow. This allowed Semafor Brand Studio to document the gathering while also creating content designed for immediate distribution.
Instead of treating event coverage and executive content as separate productions, the two workflows supported each other.
The event created access to informed voices. The studio provided a controlled environment in which to capture them. The pre-built graphics package made it possible to prepare finished content while those conversations were still current.
What Marketing Teams Can Take From This Approach
For event organizers and marketing teams, same-day content does not have to mean rushed content.
The most important work happens before the event:
- Establish the visual system in advance
- Identify the likely deliverables and publishing formats
- Design the interview environment for both scheduled and unexpected guests
- Assign clear production roles
- Build an editing workflow around the event schedule
- Prepare for opportunities that may not appear on the original run of show
When those decisions are made early, the production team can spend the event focused on capturing strong material rather than solving preventable problems.
The result is faster delivery, greater flexibility and more value from every conversation captured.
